Cupcake Calendar [Take One] - October

I did it. I successfully completed the first month in the cupcake calendar! The spooky/haunted trees for the month of October. I was hesitant at first and skeptical partway through - but I did it. And I have the photographic proof to prove it.

I was proud of myself for actually remembering to take pictures! These were the ingredients. And yes ... it is a sugar free cake. I do live with two diabetics - so I tried not to be a completely terrible daughter/granddaughter.

These were the baked cupcakes. Then you frosted them with orange icing. Not too hard yet.

This was the hardest part. You take melted candy coating and made trees out of it. It was hard trying not to make the trees too tall, or too thin. And then peeling them off was a problem too.

Example -- one of my [many] broken trees.

But they still looked cute with the little autumn leave sprinkles and the crushed chocolate wafers as dirt.

So that's how I spent my Saturday. I'll try again next year and see if they turn out better. :)

We'll just keeping doing these year after year to see if I get better. It will be my little year tradition! [Let's see if I actually remember next year :)]
